Our Heritage
CoraLuma’s foundation is deeply rooted in the visionary work of David Purdy, who first conceptualized the continuous spectroscopic detection of glucose. To pursue this ambition, Purdy assembled a formidable group of talented scientists and engineers—including Dr. Ralf Marbach who contributed his foundational work, Michael Pitsakis, and Jeremy Grata—whose early non-invasive spectrophotometry efforts proved the foundational physics of the field.
While those initial optical diagnostic systems successfully demonstrated critical physical principles, they were ultimately constrained by the era’s limitations in computational calibration and hardware miniaturization. Today, CoraLuma honors David Purdy’s original vision by reuniting this core leadership team. We are building upon our shared historical insights, leveraging modern advanced chemometrics and precision opto-mechanics to finally solve the calibration bottlenecks of the past and bring his concept to clinical reality.
